Remember last year when Roxie killed a baby bunny? Well, she’s done it again. This time, she’s movin’ on up like George and Weezy….
Uhh… at least she’s improving???

It’s official: Roxie is a killer.
Last night, I got back from my run and left the door propped open for Roxie so she could go outside and play while I was on the phone (or pee or whatever she does out there). I heard a loud squeak and thought maybe she had found one of her toys in the yard. And then I heard it again and thought maybe it was her squeaking.
I go outside to take a peek and she’s “playing” with something… something alive! I think it’s a mouse, so I try not to look. Then realize it’s a baby bunny. Roxie is pawing at it and then puts it in her mouth. She is so proud.
I couldn’t bear to watch, so I go back inside…. But here’s a post-mortem shot of Roxie’s latest victim:

poor guy
It took two Ziplock bags, a garden spade and lots of gagging for me to properly dispose of him. RIP little buddy…
I know, I know… it’s cheesy to dress animals up in ridiculous outfits. But, since I didn’t even put up a tree this year, I thought maybe I should make some attempt at holiday cheer.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Roxie. She’s a Papillon, which means butterfly in French. Not only is she looking straight into the camera, but you can see her butterfly ears.
One of our family cats died yesterday. Spike had some urinary problems for years and when the vet went in to “unblock” him, his bladder burst and he had to be put down. He was 13 (or maybe 12). I saw him on Sunday and he was definitely in pain, so it’s for the best.
Spike was the quietest of the 3 cats we had growing up and, arguably, the best-looking. He had piercing green eyes and rarely came up to people, so it was a treat when he let you pet him or jumped on your lap. He was preceded in death by Kit, who was a year older.
Surviving family members include Donna, Ryan, Jo, and Cari Rich (human), Willie (feline), Desi, Lucy, Roxie, Fable, and Shelby (canine).
He will be missed.
